Business Blogging: Having an Opinion Attracts Visitors

If you want to start an online business, or have one, then you can skillfully use business blogging to develop the right kind of rapport with your market.
There is a possible landmine, here, and that is borrowing practices employed by those who blog with no intent of doing business. The purpose of this article is to show you what steps you should be taking to ensure that you're business blogging the right way.

Figuring out a unique angle or way to get noticed is of paramount importance. Many people will have an implicit admiration if you are clear about your opinion and give it out. So many people are timid and afraid to say what is on their minds, and your audience can live vicariously through you. Since you are in business, make all efforts to maintain a professional demeanor with your readers. Your opinion is valid, hopefully, and be sure to be able to support what you say because people will be reading it carefully. Sometime you can take a stance on something that just grabs them, and they will reply in a huge way. We have seen some bloggers really take off about something that they felt strongly about, and the effect was incredible.

When you're running a business blog, you take it very seriously. If you are really serious about your business, then you will do all you can to make sure your blog is up to the task. This is why you shouldn't run ads of any kind on your business blog, no exceptions to that. If it's your personal blog, you can have ads plastered all over the place and it would be fine. Most inexperienced business bloggers tend to monetize in any way they think will earn them something, but we are not so confident about that strategy.

You should probably avoid being too obvious or in-your-face about how you market on your blog. The content on your blog is, as you know, the main purpose for someone stopping by. We have all seen blogs that are loaded down with ads, and we tend to not stay very long. This is all about content and optimizing your blog for maximum stickiness.

Getting these things right with your business blog is not difficult to achieve, but it does take action and focus. Once you start taking your blog seriously, you'll see for yourself how it helps your business grow.

What is Clickbank, How Does it Work And Who Gains From It?

Nowadays, the most commonly used method of making money online is marketing the products of various companies as an affiliate. Clickbank is a leading market portal that provides an opportunity for the affiliates and the merchants to connect with each other and benefit themselves in terms of cash, profits or customers.

Clickbank is a 3rd party network where the service suppliers and the providers don’t converse directly but through Clickbank itself.

This was for what Clickbank actually is. Now we proceed to how things work there. There are two parties which the Clickbank helps interact. The affiliates are the individual workers who pick one or more products or services to promote from a vast variety of products and then advertise and sell them in the market. The other party consists of people who want to sell their products in the market and gain customers but are not able to succeed. They are willing to pay commissions or a percentage of the actual revenue to the people who will sell their products in the market. These are known as vendors or merchants.

For people interested in advertising and publicizing goods of their choice, should first of all register themselves on Clickbank as affiliates. They should make themselves familiar with the policies, terms and rules of Clickbank and should try following them at all costs. I will let you in on some tips and tricks that can help affiliates in their line of work. For starters, choose a product which represents your interests; in this way you will be able to promote the product and explain its features to others in a better manner. You will receive a hop link when you select a particular product and you will be using that hop link, wherever you opt to promote the product be it blogs, websites, forums or search engines, to direct the customers to the product’s official website where they can proceed to checkout/payment if they wish to buy it. Plan effective and realistic marketing strategies and approaches keeping the latest customer views in mind and apply them. These include building and maintaining a blog explaining the properties of the product, optimizing your blog for top search engines, observing your competitors closely and upgrading your reputation in the market. Keep a check on your earning statistics regularly so that it keeps you motivated and you know where you stand.

Companies or individuals prepared to pay for such affiliates should maintain a vender account and it is more essential for them to avoid breaking any Clickbank policies or conditions if they want to continue gaining customers and increasing profits and don’t want Clickbank to force them out. Vital tips for these product retailers are as follows. You should use the competitive pricing policy to drive out any serious competition. Beginners should give a considerable percentage of their sale revenue as commission to affiliates and when they gain reputation in the market, they will automatically gain more customers due to their status and thus can lower their commission rates.

The most valuable benefit that both parties get is that there is no risk factor as all transactions go through Clickbank itself and there is less or no chance of fraud or scams. However, if people don’t have any information on product marketing strategies, they have a little chance to succeed. But if you are truly hard working, you will surely succeed. A lot of competition is there in this field and people lacking knowledge may descend to a wrong start. Affiliate marketing is not one of the get-rich-in-a-day schemes. You have to invest time and impressive ability and patiently wait for them to work. By knowing the techniques of affiliate marketing which I mentioned, you can easily make huge amounts of money working from home. I have witnessed examples of people myself who have shown their efforts on Clickbank by sweating on effective tactics and were rewarded with striking sums of money which will last till their generations.

My 5 Favorite Sites to Write for Online and Make Money

I'm what I like to call a "freelance creative spirit." To live, I have many different avenues of income. One of those is as a freelance writer. I love writing online and making money! Here are my 5 favorite websites to write for and make money on.

BUKISA

Obviously, I like Bukisa. Bukisa is a very easy site to use, you have the option of writing about pretty much whatever you want, and you don';t need to write thousands of articles before you make money. I literally had only one article on Bukisa for about two years and I STILL made money. Money earned on Bukisa goes to your Google Adsense account (so make sure you have one of those!)

LIST MY FIVE

List My Five is another great site to write for and make money on. It may not be the biggest money maker on this list, but it sure is one of my absolute favorite places to be online. Not only is it fun to make top 5 lists about whatever I want, but it is also fun to check out other people';s lists and get into discussions with them. The majority of the people who write for this site are wonderful, kind, helpful people that I have been lucky enough to know for years. They, like me, enjoy getting others into online writing successfully. We even have lists on Twitter of LM5 members to help promote one another';s lists. If you write for LM5, please find me on Twitter (@ponchomeg) and get connected with the rest of the crew, because the truth is, if you put a lot of effort into promoting your lists, you can make a lot more money. On average every month, I make between $5 and $10 on List My Five without doing anything. If I promote my work, write new lists, etc. I can make between $20 and $30 a month usually with what I have. So if you have a lot of free time, List My Five could potentially be one of your big money makers.

SQUIDOO

Squidoo is a very fun site to write for and make money. Instead of writing articles, you write "lenses" that can include pictures, videos, links, affiliate marketing, polls, etc. Just like with Bukisa and List My Five, you have a lot of freedom to write about whatever you want. I also really like Squidoo as a site to write for and make money because they have quests and rewards and things to encourage you in your efforts. A little bit of encouragement often goes a long way in the world of online writing, as it can be a disappointing, frustrating profession at times. The Squidoo community is another really friendly, helpful one too, so you don';t have to feel alone when you';re starting out on the site. It';s great! So if you love to be SUPER creative with your online writing, and want to make money too, check out Squidoo.

(SIDE NOTE: If you feel a sense to help others in need, Squidoo gives you the option of donating some or all of your earnings to charitable organizations. I currently donate some of my earnings to the ASPCA and several children';s  charities and programs. I love having this option, and I think it speaks well of Squidoo that they offer this easy way to give back while still giving you an opportunity to make major money writing online.)

HUBPAGES

Hubpages is another site that I write for to make money. I don';t make ton of money writing "hubs," but like Squidoo, the experience is a more creative one that your typical article writing site, so it';s just a lot of fun to do. The community at Hubpages can be very helpful, though there seems to be a sense of elitism amongst some of the strongest hubbers. That';s okay though... they don';t stop me from doing my thing. Or yours either.

BUBBLEWS

Part writing site, part sharing site, part social site, Bubblews is an AWESOME new website that pays you for your writing, for your views, for the likes and shares you receive, etc. Each action only pays a penny or so I believe, but it adds up fast and payout is only $25. I am looking forward to doing a lot more with Bubblews in the future.

Dream of Being a Blogger? The First Thing You’ll Need is a Great Web Domain Name!

More and more moms are getting into the blogging scene. Some for fun, some for profit, and some for both. Why not make money while you’re blogging about your favorite stuff, right?

It’s easier than ever to get started blogging. But the first thing you need before you begin is an idea for your domain name.

What is a domain name?

It’s the “www (dot) SOMETHING (dot) com” that people will type in to get to your blog. It’s like your address.

How do you Know What is a Good Domain Name?

There are some standards for what is a “great” domain name verses one that makes you wonder what on earth that person was thinking!

In order to help you to come up with a great web name that you’ll love for years, here are my unbreakable rules for choosing a domain.

1. No hyphens. Avoid dashes and hyphens. I’ve been there. Done that. Regret it to this day.

2. No numbers. Do I spell it out “seven” or is it the number “7??

3. Avoid words that are difficult to spell. Although I once was really excited about using a domain with the word “catalyst” in it — I found that no one could spell the darned thing.

4. Domain should end in .com. I don’t bother with other endings like .info or .biz. People tend to type in .com at the end of everything, so it’s usually best to stick with a .com ending.

5. Domain must NOT have any copyright names in it. I would not recommend using “Starbucks”, “Disney”, or any other company name in your URL or you may get a “cease and desist” email. Yes, even though you’re starting as a little mom blogger, eventually you might get huge. So, it’s best to plan for success in advance and avoid using trademarks in your URL.

6. If I’m looking to sell your blog down the road, it must be generic enough. For instance, I wouldn’t buy “NicoleKnowsFootball.com” to talk about my favorite football team if I planned to sell the site ever, because I’d have to find someone named Nicole to buy it.

And my big, bad unbreakable rule.

7. It must pass the Oprah test.

What exactly is the Oprah test? Well, I picture Oprah saying it out loud. “Today I have with me, Nicole Dean, author of Blah blah blah and owner of NicoleontheNet.com”. Is it memorable? Easy to spell?

You can’t do that with MyNumber1-BestHome-Remedy-Treatments4New-Mothers.net.

Why is this Important?

A difficult domain is actually wasted opportunity and wasted traffic slipping through your fingers. If you’re promoting via audio or video (maybe on podcasts or on YouTube) – you need a domain that is EASY to remember. It has to make it into the person’s ears and to his brain and stick. Heck, even if you run into an old college friend and say “Stop by my site www (dot) somethingcool (dot) com” – you’ll want her to remember long enough to actually come to your blog, right? So, make it simple. Make it memorable. And you’ll be glad.

Plus, honestly, it’s a credibility issue. Would you really buy something from MyNumber1-BestHome-Remedy-Treatments4New-Mothers.net? I hope you wouldn’t even think of getting out your credit card for a site like that. SCARY. And would you feel comfortable referring it to your friends? Not a chance.

How do you get a domain name of your very own?

You can get a domain at www.MomWebs.com which is also my recommendation for Web Hosting. As you sign up for your domain, you can get hosting at the same time. And… they’ll even set up your blog for you for only $10. Plus, there’s a phone number that you can call if you have any questions.

With all of that help, there’s nothing stopping you from setting up your first blog.

I hope this has been helpful. And, I really look forward to seeing YOU on Oprah!

Did you Love the Movie “Julie and Julia”? You Can Live It!

Have you seen the movie Julie and Julia?

A woman, Julie Powell, decides to dedicate a year of her life to cooking all the recipes in Julia Child’s first book while blogging about the adventure.  Here are a few of my favorite lines from the movie…

Julie: I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

And, another of my favorite lines…

Julie: You’re not a writer unless someone publishes you. See, that’s what’s so great about blogs. You don’t have to be published. You can just go online, press enter and there it is, out there.

What Julie didn’t realize when she started her blog is that you can also make money blogging.

Blogging has become a world-wide phenomenon that is giving many people the opportunity to earn real money online. Blogs are popular for good reason.  They are easy to set up and learn, and the cost is minimal and sometimes even free.  With modern applications, you can get started blogging in less than an hour or so.

The big question now is what should I blog about?

Have you taken recipes and tweaked them just so to make them perfect?  Do you enjoy testing new dishes on your family?  Recipe blogs are very popular with people who are gourmet cooks as well as people who don’t know the first thing about moving around a kitchen, but would like to learn.  Sharing your cooking successes, and failures, is a great way to make money online.  Even if your cooking usually turns out to be stories of woe, like my “never mix cheese and cabbage” disaster, having a way to connect with other people who share your interest is a great way to turn your stories into profits.

There are some simple skills required to start blogging about cooking.  Of course, you have to enjoy cooking.  You don’t have to be a chef, just have an interest in food.  You’ll want to be able to organize your thoughts, and get your recipes in some sort of understandable order so people can follow along.  If you have a digital camera, you’ll be able to include pictures of the dishes you make, but that is not absolutely necessary.  There are many publicly licensed food photos on the internet for you to use.

The main skill you’ll need is patience.  You won’t see a lot of traffic to your blog at first, but don’t worry.  It takes time for people to find out how great your blog is.

Of course, you want to make money with your recipe blog.  By using one or more of the following methods, you’ll have a real home-based business that will start producing income for you and your family.

Make Money by Selling Products: Some people enjoy the retail aspect of their business.  Whether it’s kitchen gadgets or cookbooks, your readers will love to hear what your favorite kitchen tools are. You’ll be sharing your love for cooking, giving your opinion on products, and making money at the same time.  Great idea.

Make Money by Selling Advertising: Once traffic starts coming your way, you’ll find advertising on your blog to be a nice way to generate income.  This is something to keep in mind, but you won’t really hit your stride making money with this method until you start getting readers.  Just file this idea away so you can start making your plans.

Make Money by Selling Your Blog: When your blog becomes popular, you have become a successful blogger, for sure!  If you’re ready to move on to other things, you can consider selling your blog for a big profit.

By focusing your energy on your own unique style of blog, you can find a home for family recipes, regional dishes, cooking disasters and fun stories that your readers will come back to time and time again.  Sharing your knowledge of cooking, your recipes, your successes and failures, all can bring in a nice income if you are ready to learn how.  But, you’ve got to take that first step in order to see your dreams come true.

To learn exactly how to set up your blog and how to create a recipe blog that people love, talk about and come back to, grab the guide “How to Start a Cooking Blog“. You’ll also learn how to get traffic to your blog and make money doing something you enjoy.

How to Get Healthier and Wealthier at the Same Time

Here’s little quiz for you.

1. Do you love to eat? Ice cream, chips, fried foods, big slices of fresh bread, chocolate, cheese, sauces… Any of those making you drool?

2. Are you slacking off on the amount of exercise you should be doing? Making excuses to get out that exercise video, go to the gym, or even take a 1/2 hour walk every day? Who has time for that?

3. Do you wish you had more disposable income? Maybe an extra $100 per month to start?

If you answered “Yes” to at least 2 of the three questions above, you’re going to love this article.

But, first, don’t feel badly if you aren’t eating well enough and aren’t exercising enough. You aren’t alone.

If you’re like most humans on the planet – you love to eat. Maybe a little too much. And, again, if you’re like most people on the planet, you’re not getting enough exercise. Perhaps you’re too busy working or taking care of your family, but the fact is that you’re not taking good enough care of yourself. And, finally, if you’re like most people on the planet – you’d like more money.

Here’s what I’m going to propose.

Start a Fitness Journal or Weight Loss Journey Blog for Fun and Profit

The cool thing is that you don’t HAVE to be an expert to succeed at this. In fact, the more believable you are as a flawed human being, the better off you can do.

Think about this. Who is the average American more likely to believe and trust?

1. Someone who has 3% body fat and looks like they spend all day at the gym and have natural genetics for general awesomeness?

or…

2. Someone who has a before picture where they weighed 400 lbs and an after picture weighing in at a healthy 170?

I would want to know how the second person pulled it off. Don’t you?! Not only that, but if the blog was believable, I’d probably tell my friends, post on Facebook about it, and buy everything they offered about how I can lose weight, too!

So what does this mean? Simple. People search online for solutions to their problems. A BIG problem for people is their overall weight and lack of exercise. So, if you set up a blog, you can not only help those people but … and this is the best part … hold yourself accountable to lose weight, too.

Your first blog post can be as simple as this:

“My name is Sally and I have a confession to make. I need to lose about 80 lbs. How’d I gain it all? Well, it snuck up on me one potato chips at a time, but I’m determined to lose it because (insert your reason why here).  I’d like to use this blog as a diary to show you how I do it. I’ll share the ups and downs along the way. Share anything that works really well. And, the fads that I try that don’t. So you can avoid them! Please come back often to see how I’m doing. I’d love to cheer you on, too. So please comment and let me know how much weight you need to lose so we can do it together.”

You can do that. It’s as simple as writing an email.

The only trick is in getting started. That’s where I come in.

To learn exactly how to get your Weight Loss Journey blog up and running and make people love it, talk about it and come back for more — grab the guide “How to Start a Weight Loss Journey Blog“. You’ll also learn how to get traffic to your blog and make money doing something you enjoy.

Turn Your WordPress Blog Into a Website

Want an easy way to start a website? If you already have a WordPress blog then with a few simple tweaks you can turn your WordPress blog into a website.

You see, a WordPress blog allows you to have both posts and pages.

Let’s talk about the difference between the two:

Posts:
A post will show up on your blog page. Posts are most commonly listed in chronological order with the most recent post first. They are commonly available with a comment form for users to comment and interact with the blog author. You usually find blog posts by checking the blog page for the most recent post, by clicking on the category you would like to read a post from or by clicking on the archives by date to see posts from that time.

Pages:
A page is very similar to a post but there are a few differences. Pages do not show up in chronological order as they are normally not dated. A website page is what you would normally find in a menu bar across the top of the website or in the sidebar. These are much more ‘static’ pages. Typical website pages are ‘Home’, ‘About’, ‘Contact’, ‘FAQ’, etc.

So how do you turn a WordPress blog that now just lists posts into a website that also has pages?

What you need to do is go into your WordPress control panel and follow these steps:
1. Create as many pages as you would like for your website. Make sure to create a page you name ‘Home’, this will be used as your homepage. Also create a page named ‘Blog’ which you will use for your blog posts page if you are keeping your blog.
2. Now you will need to go to the ‘Settings’ area that you can see in the menu on the left side of your blog. The drop down menu under Settings will have an option named ‘Reading’, you’ll need to click that.
3. The first option will be ‘Front Page Displays’. Click on the option ‘A Static Page’.
4. Next you will need to set which page you want to be your homepage. As mentioned above choose the page you labeled Home for the homepage and the page you labeled Blog for your posts page.
5. Scroll down and click to save your changes.

That’s how you change your WordPress blog into a website. Please note that this will only work on a blog that is installed on your own hosting.

Imagine how much easier your life will be with a website you can actually update. That’s what a WordPress website can do for your business. Find out more by joining me as I teach you through my online video, webinar and email coaching program how to create your own WordPress blog and website.

7 Ways To Increase Consumption of Your Content

Given the many crackdowns by Google lately, the general consensus is, high quality content is more important that ever. I whole-heartedly agree with the quality part. However, this bit of advise seems to have a little “build it right and they will come” ring to it, and we all know things simply don’t work like that. In order for quality content to become spectacular, people need to consume it first.

The following are 7 things you can do to help people consume more of your content.

Create different formats

Because we all learn and absorb material differently, our choice of media is also different. Not everyone is a reader. So, translate your content into audio, video, written text, slides, info graphics, quotes made into images. Those are a few to begin with.

The nice thing about doing that, you now have the material for distributing your content on more spaces like SlideShare, YouTube, iTunes, Pinterest, other people’s blogs and more.

Make it easier to consume on the device of their choice

Sometimes, it isn’t enough to produce multiple formats of your content. It has to be easy to get going. Audios and videos should play with a click. PDFs shouldn’t be zipped. This slows people down because they can’t simply click and read. It’s frustrating, especially if it is a short report. Here’s a better idea. Give me a way to load the document directly into my Kindle app. There’s actually a WordPress plugin that can do that. It’s called the Kindle Loader. You should check it out.

Highlight the good bits

Every piece of content has some key points in them. Pull them out, email it to newsletter subscribers and give them the link to the rest of the meat. This is a very effective strategy not only for freely available content but for paid information and it works. Repeat this on social media too because you never who has or hasn’t read your content. You can even do this for past content.

Encourage discussion

Similar to the technique above, when you ask questions about something in your content, people have no choice but to read it to answer. Make sure you ask in a way that leads them to it though like, “What do you think about the first tip? Do you practice it?” Now, if you haven’t been paying attention, you’ll want to re-read the first point so you can answer intelligently. Don’t just ask in the blog post. Periodically, throw a question out to your newsletter subscribers and social networks with a quick “Hey, can I get your thoughts on such and such in this post?”

Keep it short and on point

People are busy. Use just enough words to get your point across.

Promote It

This shouldn’t even be here but it is, because we have a tendency to underestimate simple things. Email it, share it, not only when you first publish it, but again and again using different words, angles, across different networks and over time.

Link to past content

Last but not least, it’s not always about new content. Draw people deeper into your old content and related areas by linking within the article or highlight quality posts.

Are You Struggling To Come Up With Content For Your Blog?

Most people are excited when they start a brand new blog on self hosted Wordpress, at Blogger or any other blogging website. They usually have a general idea of what they want their blog to be about and they are just buzzing with ideas. They want to share a little of this and a little of that while making their opinion known about the main topic of the blog.

There are so many different things to blog about:

If your passion is mental health, you might choose to blog about Bipolar Disorder, depression and anxiety.

If parenting is your forte, you might blog about various aspects of parenting like rewards and punishments, dealing with temperamental teenagers, how to be an effective single parent and tips for dealing with preschoolers.

If you’re blogging about weight loss, you might want to highlight the pitfalls of straying from a healthy diet plan and how to get back on track with one’s fitness plan by working out at home with work out DVD’s and fitness gear. You might share how to make recipes that are not only delicious and quick  but also healthy too.

If your blog caters to those who want to save money and spend less you might write posts that show your readers how to save money on their next trip to the grocery store, how to use coupons when making online purchases, how to sell thins they no longer need or want to generate some extra cash and ways to save money on bills in the winter.

As your blog starts to gain a little momentum you may find that your readers want more. Posting biweekly or once a week may no longer satisfy those who love your blog. The people want more and so you try to give it to them, posting two to three times a week or even daily.

You set up a blogging schedule to deal with the hectic demand for content. For some, blogging daily will be easy cake, a walk in the park and for others, they might feel a sense of dread or frustration as they try to come up with yet another post after barely choking out the last one. They were fine when they didn’t need to write as much content but now the task is becoming overwhelming for them. They may even begin to suffer with writers block.

Fortunately their is an easier way. PLR to the rescue. PLR,which stands for private label content, is any type of content that you can edit and use as you see fit as long as you don’t add it to article directories or sell it as PLR yourself. There’s a lot that you can do with PLR.

You can copy and paste it as in when you’re in a bind and need content quick or you can reword the content, changing the order of the sentences or paragraphs as well as swapping out words for appropriate synonyms.

You could even take it a step further and use your PLR for research ideas. You could then branch out from some of the main points covered within the articles and easily create unique content of your own.
